I first read these words in Napoleon Hill's revolutionary book Think and Grow Rich (Chapter 1: Desire)
After a few years his desire became reality when he successfully marketed Edison Dictating Machine (which other associates of Edison didn't believed can be sold), and became a business associate of Mr. Edison.
Let me share few lines from the book, which touched me deep within myself -
When he went to orange, he didn't say to himself, 'I will try to induce Edison to give me a job of some sort.' He said, 'I will see Edison and put him on notice that I have come to go into business with him' He did not say, 'I will work there for a few months and if I get no encouragement, I will quit and get a job somewhere else' He did say, 'I will start anywhere, I will do anything Edison tells me to do, but before I am through, I will be his associate' He did not say, 'I will keep my eyes open for another opportunity in case I fail to get what I want in Edison organization.' He said, 'There is but ONE thing in this world that I am determined to have, and that is a business association with Thomas A. Edison, I will burn all the bridges behind me and stake my ENTIRE FUTURE on my ability to get what I want'He left himself no possible way of retreat. he had to win or perish.
Wow! After 2 years of reading these lines for the first time, I still can feel the blood rushing in vein when I am writing these lines. Let me share another story from the book -
Once upon a time a great warrior sailed to the enemy's country with his soldiers loaded on the boat. But to his utter surprise, he found that enemy soldiers are far greater in number. What he did then? He gave order to burn all their boats and addressing his troops before the first battle, he said, 'You see the boats going up in smoke. That means that we cannot leave these shores alive unless we win!We win or we perish! Guess what? They won.
And if you study lives of all great successful person from any field of life, you will find similar story. They never made a back-up plan or plan B, they were determined to get what they wanted out of their life.
And how this idea changed my life? Two years back when I was in my second year of Engineering, I was feeling totally bored, I never liked Engineering, all I wanted to do in my life was to inspire people to live their best life. I wanted to visit new places, meet new people and learn from the nature. I wanted to be free from the routine. I wanted to share my realization of life through Speech, books or blogs. But I was stuck between the tough schedule of my Engineering and preparation of stereotype Higher study or Campus Placement Job. I can still remember those days, when I couldn't breath within the boundaries of my class, I wanted to ran out of the class and do whatever I liked. But couldn't dared. I was also caught up with orthodox notion - get good marks, get a good job and live happily ever after. Biggest lie we are taught from our childhood. Nobody can be happy not following his dreams. Ask me - inspite of having superb academic background in Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission or Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur I was never happy, I always felt something is missing in my life. I didn't felt excitement to wake up everyday. Thank God, I came to know about eBIZ.com Pvt. Ltd. where thousands of youth are following their dreams. They showed me the path, helped me to dare. I started reading books on Personal Growth, recommended from the leaders of eBIZ.com Pvt. Ltd. I started to inspire people to live their best life. I started visiting different parts of my country sharing with others what I was learning, I started sharing through blogs. But I couldn't give it all the time I wanted to give because of my classes. Then one day I read those words in Think and Grow Rich, and I decided enough is enough! And I only did what I loved, I gave more time reading books on personal growth than my Electronics textbooks, I started attending a few classes just to clear my semester, I was the first person in my college to refuse to sit for campusing, I started taking Entrepreneurship as my fulltime career. At that time I was not earning much, but I didn't thought 'Let's take a Job, if I fail in Entrepreneurship,I will have a option' I told myself 'Either I will live doing what I love, or I prefer to die starving'
And believe me rest is history! Living life at its best today...but journey is not over, need to touch many more lives...This is Just a Beginning!
If you are still not following your dream, wake up today. At the end of the life, you have to answer to nobody but you. And remember if you are not happy, you can't keep anybody happy.
