Now you may think, 'That's okay, as I don't have any great power, I don't have to care about any great responsibility.' But my friends, who said that You don't have any great power?
Believe me, in last few years, I have met thousands of people from different backgrounds, but I have never met a single one who didn't have any special power to share with the world or to help others.
No I am not saying, our world is hidden with imaginary superheroes like X-Men or something, I am not saying the people I met could crawl on wall, fly in the sky, breath out fire or had any magic wand...I am saying some of them had very good communication skill, some of them had unusual capability of networking with others, some of them had awesome writing, singing, dancing skill, atleast many had a beautiful gift of smile.
Who said that only the imaginary characters with strange costumes are called superheroes? The person who discontinued his college to share his vision of modern computing - Steve Jobs - founder of Apple, isn't he a superhero? A person with virtually no power, no weapons brough freedom to a country - Gandhiji-isn't he a superhero? Becoming an author inspite of being deaf and blind, shouldn't Helen Keller deserved to be called a superhero? The list doesn't end here - Mozart, greatest composer of the world was deaf, Dhirubhai Ambani gave birth to Reliance Industries though he was from a very poor background.
What I am trying to say is there is some unique power within each of us, our first responsibility is to recognise it, and then to use it not just for the benefit of ourselves but for benefit of the whole mankind.
I can remember the words of Principal Maharaj Swami Suparnanandaji, Ramakrishna Mission Residential College, Narendrapur
You know Sourav, biggest challenge in our society is that people aren't ready to share with others, what they are privileged of having. Rich are not ready to share wealth(or knowledge of how to be wealthy) with the poor, Healthy people aren't interested in helping others to be healthy, students who are good in academics are not ready to help their classmates who are weak, wise are not ready to share their wisdom with others. This world will be a far wonderful place to live in when everybody understand the responsibility of sharing their gifts with others. From that day I started thinking deep, what is my gift, my power? And I found my power is
My words-with which I can inspire others to live a meaningful life. And I was very much aware of my responsibility also, that's why I chose to be an Entrepreneur, helping people to live their best life!
As Robin Sharma says
"Everybody is a Leader, if you breath oxygen, you are a leader, and you have some responsibility to perform at its best in whatever you do"
So find your power, start helping others with that. Don't run from this responsibility. Believe me being responsible with your power will bring some meaning to your life. It will bring excitement to wake up every morning, and you can go to sleep each night with peace knowing You are making some difference!
Update (8th July 2011): I want to add some more points to this topic. Recently I had a very bitter experience. A few people whom I considered to be my mentor (not just me but lakhs of youngsters in India), revealed their real ugly nature to us. It became clear, they never lived what they taught others. They never cared about anybody but themselves. And they manipulated people's love, faith and trust. They misused their power. I have not doubt that God will teach these people lessons soon. As I work as a mentor in India based Network Marketing company eBIZ.com Pvt. Ltd. , there are thousands of people who follow my every words and most importantly every action. So everyday I retrospect "Am I worth following?". I make sure that I always remember that I am not perfect but I try to improve myself bit by bit everyday. I understand my responsibility that comes with the power I have. Do u?
