Why 99% People Fail in 99% Ventures?

Share
Whenever you declare the world that you want to do something different, most of the people around you will be kind enough to tell you one after another horror stories of failure. "Want to do your own business? Do you know most of the star-ups vanishes within first year? Everybody can't be Bill Gates." "Want to be a cricketer? How many make it to national team?" "Wanna be a superstar? Everybody can't be Shahrukh Khan" Now what should you do? Tell them to Shut Up! Don't listen to them.

Are they wrong? Nope! Then? Most people do fail in most of their ventures, but there are some reasons behind those failure.

Let me tell you some of the reasons:

1. Gives Up too Soon: Most people have very unrealistic expectations from their venture. They look for very quick success. But if you study lives of most successful persons from different field, you will find - it took them years to create that magnificent success. I was reading a book Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish by Rashmi Bansal, where success stories of 25 Indian Entrepreneurs (IIM-A passouts) are given. For most of them it took average 12-15 years to make their venture successful!
If I talk about my journey, when I dived into Network Marketing with eBIZ.com Pvt. Ltd. three  years back in college, many of our friends started with us. Within one year they didn't make that big, but was in better condition than me. But still they left saying "I couldn't do as I expected". Among those who remained in second year, many more left at the end of second year. But guess what? We didn't gave up as we had realistic expectation and long term vision, that's why here we are enjoying the freedom of Entrepreneur at an young age of 22. I feel sorry for those friends who gave up for easier way to success, as they are struggling today to rise on corporate ladders.

2. Insufficient Knowledge: This one surprises me most. People are not ready to learn as much as possible about the venture they want to be successful in. They always search for quick-fix, rather than permanent solution.
Everyday I see in Twitter, many people want to build a Large Follower base, and what they look for are "Get X followers in a Day" bullshits ! But they are not ready to invest little time learning Twitter Ethics or Expert advices.  And after some times they gives up saying "This Twitter is Crap, only works for celebrities!" What a fool they are! If you want to learn about Twitter from the experts try this
Same happened for my Network Marketing Venture too. Many times I encounter prospects saying "My father/uncle/brother/brother-in-law/girl-next-door/... tried this kind of things and failed. This stuff doesn't work. I just ask them politely "Did you checked how much they had studied?" My prospects stares at me as if "Who the hell studies after 10+2?"  Not everybody, but the successful person in any field studies enormously about that field. To reach whrere I am today, I studied innumerable books, articles and blogs on Network Marketing, Success, Personal Growth, Communication Skill, Leadership and many more.

3. Get Influenced Easily by Negativity: Most people fail because they get readily influenced by negativity of people around them. Whenever someone criticise them or pass comments they become upset, and think they are doing something wrong and leave their venture. But the reverse is true. If people are criticising you, then you should know you are doing something different. Do you know when someone is telling you "You can't do this" they are actually saying "I couldn't do that, so I won't let you do either".
When I dived into the field of Entrepreneurship, inspite of being from a middle class family I faced all kind of negativities you can imagine, sadly most from my parents. But I always remembered what my mentor Mr. Mohit Sardana taught me "Negative people do exist, but never let them make you negative"

4. Lack of Consistency: If you watch winner in any field, you will see this quality-consistency. They don't do anything for once but day in day out. Most people fail because they lack consistency. They fail to maintain the regularity. I have seen these many times. Those who practice regularly ultimately wins.

5. Get Distracted: This is another reason for failure for most of the people. Take example of students - in the most important years of their life, when they should focus on building their future, most of the students are being distracted by a hell lot of things like movies/malls/addictions/computer games/chat rooms (Hey, don't think I am sounding like grumpy looking parents, I believe too in enjoying life every moment, but what the point in enjoying life for 3-4 years in such a way that you can't ever enjoy in your whole life?)

I don't like to discuss much about failure, but I told these reasons because I want you to know that People fails only because of themselves, not because being Successful is most difficult thing in the world. If you have strong desire to be successful and "Never Give Up" Attitude, nobody can stop you from being successful.

If you have anything to share about why people fail or how can we avoid failure, please share in the comment section below.
