How Twitter FollowFriday Can Make Your Fridays Special

Share

If you are using Twitter and know what FollowFriday is, then you know what I am talking about. You will enjoy the post. But if you don't know what Twitter and/or #FollowFriday is or how this can make your Fridays special then, you can't afford to miss reading the post.
After the success of yesterday's post How Many Superheroes You Have Within Yourself I was thinking what should I write today. Then I thought why don't I write on FollowFriday when today is Friday! But co-incidentally Sumanadi gave me a link to her amazing post on this amazing  Friday culture of Twitter. I couldn't stop myself from writing it.
If you are thinking," why the hell are you writing on Social Media thingy in your self development blog? " trust me Twitter is much more than another social networking site, and Twitter can definitely help you to live your best life, how? Read this.

Enough for intro. Let me give some valuable insights.
You can skip the basics if you want, and go straight to the end of the post to read How Twitter FollowFriday Can Make Your Fridays Special

What is Twitter

Technically Twitter is another social networking site, through which you can share your everyday experiences through text, images, video updates to a selected group of friends or with the world. It's also the best place to find breaking news (faster than News Channel, and ofcourse than newspaper. Lol!)
According to Twitter team "Twitter is a real-time information network powered by people all around the world that lets you share and discover what’s happening now.

Twitter asks “what’s happening” and makes the answer spread across the globe to millions, immediately." As this post is not about Twitter, so limiting here, you can read more about twitter from here.
Just let me add something here, if you are not on Twitter, you are going to regret one day. (Ya! You can call me Twitter addicted or crazy but it's not just my realisation, give your head a little spin and ask "Why the hell celebrities, sportstars, even big businesses all are using Twitter? They weren't so interested in other social networking sites before! Can you imagine Shahrukh Khan using Orkut?Hohoho:p Never! " )

What is FollowFriday

Idea of FollowFriday started for recommending interesting tweeps (read twitter users) to your followers. This culture was started from this simple tweet by Micah
And it went viral in no time. It's now an International event. It's one of the most popular trending topic on twitter.

How To Give FollowFriday

Now if you are already on twitter and want to recommend some great Tweeps to your follower with FollowFriday, here is how to start -
#FollowFriday @username
You can use #ff / #FF / #followfriday hashtags in place of #FollowFriday too
For example,

What are you waiting for? Keep this page open, go to twitter and start giving some #FollowFriday now! Go! Go!

Whom to Give FollowFriday

I know you are living in a free country and you have every right to give FollowFriday to anybody you like. But just remember this can severely harm the charm of FollowFriday. Please don't give FollowFriday to just fill your timeline with the tag, or expecting they will follow you back. So maintaining its effectiveness you can give FollowFriday to following types of people -

1. Tweeps Worth Following: Tweeps who adds values to your timelines in any ways. May be he/she shares valuable links and resources on social media/technology/ business. May be he inspire you with inspirational quotes (Hey! I'm not talking about me. Sigh!)
2. Offline Friends Who's New to Twitter: May be one of your friends (whom you knew before twitter. Not just friends, can be your dad, your girlfriend, only if you want to:p) just joined twitter. It is great way to introduce them to your twitter circle.
3. Tweeps Who Helped You: If you are lucky enough like me, what you'll learn from twitter in one month, may be you haven't learned throughout your whole life. What I haven't learnt through twitter? From personal growth to social media to blogging to book publishing to... (list won't end) So why don't you give a shout out to those who helped you in any ways or atleast made you smile when you felt like crying?
4. People Who Interacts With You: In my opinion everyone love to be appreciated, and everyone has some goodness inside them. For the first time I saw someone giving #FollowFriday to everyone who interacts with her. Who is she? Lolly Daskal. I wanted to do the same, but there was one problem-

How to Give FollowFriday

to a large number of tweeps
How can I give #FollowFriday to so many people? My fingers are not machine. Then I found an awesome tool to give FollowFriday to everyone who interacted with you recently Twitter Tag Projects

How Twitter FollowFriday Can Make Your Fridays Special

1. Finding Great People to Follow: If you follow this hashtag #FollowFriday you will find many interesting people to follow. Ranging from some great friends at a place near you,to some great leaders in your niche, you can find following #FollowFriday. Whatever you do in your life, you need friends. And if you need professional advice you can find experts worldwide.

2. Expressing Gratitude: In this express living society, where people seldom spare a good compliment for another person, this #FollowFriday culture in twitter changed our thinking, where every friday we genuinely give compliments to others.

3. Feeling Blessed: Whenever I feel down I remember how many wonderful people are there in my life. I really feel blessed. And oh yes! Who don't love those ultra cool compliments we get on Friday like-
