It's okay to have website/blog xyz.blogspot.com or xyz.wordpress.com, but isn't it better if you have a website or blog with xyz.com/xyz.co.in/xyz.in (very simply put these are called domain names) or something like that? Similarly though you can host your website/blog in services like blogspot/wordpress you can have much control over your website if you have your own webspace/webhosting (imagine a hard disk space accessible online).

Publishing Your Website 
After registering your domain name and web hosting account you will get the further instruction from the service provider through Email.
Now few fundamental things about publishing your website-


Design all the web pages offline using HTML/Fronpage and then upload it to your hosting account. For this you'll need a FTP uploader like Filezilla or access ftp account from Windows 7 explorer without FTP client. You will need details like Hostname (generally ftp:xyz.com ), username and password (you will find in the email from your service provider).


First page or homepage of your website must be named as index.htm or index.html.


Don't forget to update your DNS settings. (can't discuss here, ask your service provider or Mr. Know-it-all Google).


Get Improvement Ideas from Other Websites and Experts: 
Whenever you will find a superb website, try to learn from it. Add the features of the website you loved to your own website. Feel free to ask the owner of the website for help. It's absolutely essential to give your website visitors or blog readers chance to express their opinion and the commenting system should be such so that you can easily connect with the visitors and readers. Though there are many commenting system available, I will recommend you the best- Diqus. 


Monetizing (With a Word of Caution): 
There are many ways of earning from your websites or blogs, starting with Google Adsense. But let me warn you, don't get lured reading about the bloggers/site owners who are earning seven figure income sitting at home. That requires considerable effort and time. Don't waste much time for these if you are not absolutely sure about taking it as your primary career.
